Monday, May 28, 2018 - Travel to Tallinn, Estonia, Tallinn City Tour

We departed after breakfast for Tallinn which is the capital of Estonia.  Some of us have been visited Tallinn as a part of a Baltic Ocean Cruise, however, it is such a pretty town, none of us mind to visit it the second time. Since Estonia is another Euro country, there was no issue on passing the boarder.

When we got to Tallinn, it was lunch time already, therefore we had lunch at Olde Hansa Gild. The words ‘Olde’ and ‘Hansa’ derives from ‘old German’ and together means the old tribe. It is an interesting restaurant which they live according to the old Hanseatic customs, which are expressed in every act and every little detail of the servants, and the dwellers of the house. Everything that we see, hear, taste or touch, has been made by the role models of 15th century, so visitors entering the house will find themselves in the wheel of time, led by ordinary servant folks as their guides to complete their medieval experience. It was very dark inside the restaurant, but the decoration is very interesting and it's great for photo opportunities.

After lunch, our local guide lead us to the Old Town which is another UNESCO Heritage site.  We visited Town Hall Square, St. Catherine’s Passage and Olympic Village designated for Moscow Olympic water games in 1980.  We also visited Alexander Nevsky Cathedral which is an orthodox cathedral with spectacular architect design. We took many photos at this spot.

Then during a restroom break, some of us ventured into a gift shop which sells a lot of amber.  Johnny had told us about the amber products in Baltic States which was once a forest millions years ago and submerged to ocean water caused by the melted glaciers, the fossilized pine tree resin turned into amber.  Therefore for amber lovers, Baltic States are best places to buy amber.  Some of us did just that with very successful purchases.

There is a Three Sisters in Tallinn in comparing with the Three Brothers in Riga.  She took us there.

Then we walked up to Kohtuotsa Viewing Platform to have a spectacular panoramic view of Tallinn.  Once we arrived at this spot, it helped some of us to confirm that we did visit Tallinn in our previous trip.

We had dinner at Maikrahv Restoran and stayed overnight at Radisson Blu Olympia.
