Friday, June 1, 2018 - Train ride to Moscow, Russia, Moscow bus tour

We got up early in the morning to catch the Sapsan Bullet Train (high speed train) from St Petersburg to Moscow. "Sapsan" is Russian for the peregrine falcon, the fastest bird in the falcon family, so it was an appropriate name for this new train, which can reach speeds of up to 250 kmph.  It took a little bit of less than 4 hours to reach Leningradsky train station in Moscow.  The train ride was very comfortable and relaxing.  It can be in comparison with Taipei’s High Speed Train.

After we arrived Moscow, we went to have lunch at Godunov Restaurant near the Red Square.

After lunch, we had a bus ride through the city of Moscow and stopped on top of a hill at the University of Moscow.  We can view the Luzhniki Stadium where is the place the opening/closing ceremony of the Russia World Cup 2018 starting on June 14, 2018.  From the same spot we also had a good panoramic view of Moscow downtown.  However, it was not as exciting as we expected, we took a brief look and quickly got back to the bus.

Then, our local guide took us to a street with many souvenir shops.  Some of us got Russia World Cup 2018 soccer balls and the traditional Matryoshka Dolls, also known as Russian nesting dolls, stacking dolls, or Russian dolls for souvenirs.

Then we had another Chinese dinner at Cafe Mara3nh.  Tonight we checked into the Azimut Moscow Olympic Hotel.  After we checked in, there was still sunlight, therefore, some of us ventured out to the nearby Moscow Cathedral Mosque for photos.  There was a concert going on in the Olympic Stadium next to this mosque, therefore, it had a big crowd in the area.  Some of us even ventured out into shopping areas and found some good deals on Ecco shoes.
